On 1999 and later P0448 Mitsubishi Verada engines, the instrument cluster has a built-in self-diagnostic mode that can be accessed by pressing and holding the instrument cluster SELECT/RESET button. There are currently two main types of cylinder deactivation used today, depending on the type of engine.
